There’s a reason…
this blog is called ‘sew faddy’ and its because I flit back and forwards from hobby to hobby like some elderly manic butterfly! I faded away from sewing for a while but now I’ve treated myself to a rather lovely new sewing machine so I’m back for another shot. Here’s my first project, a teeny baby dress for a new family member expected in the next few weeks.

First blood!
It’s been so long since I’ve sewn I had to pull out the instruction books for my machines. How do you thread this again? But like riding a bike it all came back quite quickly and I’m gradually getting to grips with it. I have the front room of the house all kitted out now complete with a boxed set of DVDs of the complete series of Friends which appears to be the perfect accompaniment to stitching.
So far I’ve made three bags, destined for the Christmas present stash. This one was made from fat quarters with the addition of a pure silk bow on the flap, which is difficult to see but trust me, it’s there.

On your marks…

Clean slate
After a gap of several years I’m going to start sewing again. All my sewing equipment was stored away in the loft when I made the decision to concentrate on writing a book, digital designing and my university studies (I’m a mature student, coming to the end of studying for my first degree). Today I cleared a space in the front room of the house and my poor, long suffering husband helped me move everything downstairs. Next comes the process of finding out how everything works, cleaning the rather dusty sewing machines and seeing what I can make from the ‘stash’.
